Walk the house with us

Where a home shows its age

Scroll to see the four things we check on every visit: the roof, the patch work, the gutters and the siding.

01 · Roof replacement

Worn, bald, curling shingles

When the granules are gone and the shingles curl, patching only buys time. We tear off to the deck, replace soft decking and install a complete CertainTeed Integrity Roof System™.

Roof replacement

02 · Roof repair

Lifted shingles, bare underlayment

Wind and hail peel shingles back and leave the felt exposed. We match the shingle, reseal the flashing and send photos of the fix.

Roof repair

03 · Gutters

Sagging, pulling-away gutters

A sagging run overflows onto the fascia and pools at the foundation. We hang seamless aluminum on hidden hangers, pitched to drain.

Gutters

04 · Siding

Cracked, warped siding

Water behind a cracked panel rots the sheathing long before it shows inside. We replace damaged runs in vinyl or fiber cement and seal every edge.

Siding

All repaired

A crew for every trade. Every repair, done right.

From the first inspection to the final walk-through, a dedicated Barnes crew handles each part of your exterior.

The CertainTeed Integrity Roof System™

A roof is more than its shingles. We install CertainTeed's Integrity Roof System, where every layer, from the membrane at the eaves to the caps on the ridge, is made to work together for leak protection, attic ventilation and long-lasting performance.

Roof cutaway showing the numbered layers: waterproofing underlayment at the eave, water-resistant underlayment over the deck, starter shingles, shingles, ridge ventilation and hip caps
Numbers match the list. Diagram from CertainTeed's Integrity Roof System brochure.
  1. Waterproofing underlayment

Self-adhering membrane at the eaves, valleys and other vulnerable spots, the first defense against wind-driven rain and ice dams.

  2. Water-resistant underlayment

A protective layer over the whole roof deck that acts as a second barrier against leaks.

  3. Starter shingles

The first course along the edges, designed to seal with the shingles above for wind resistance.

  4. Shingles

Good, better and best CertainTeed lines in the style and color you choose, backed by the manufacturer warranty.

  5. Ventilation

Ridge vents paired with intake or soffit vents let the roof breathe, keeping the attic cooler in summer and drier in winter.

  6. Hip and ridge caps

Matching caps along every hip and ridge line for a clean, finished edge.

Barnes crew installing new shingles around the chimney

On our roofs, not just in the brochure

That is our crew laying new shingles over CertainTeed underlayment. Low-slope sections, like porch roofs, get CertainTeed Flintlastic® or SMARTCOAT™ low-slope products instead of shingles.
